Discover

the easternmost part of the Ribera del Duero

In the easternmost part of the Ribera del Duero (Soria), at high altitude, we find old majuelo vineyards—small traditional plots—where resilient, timeworn vines still endure.

San Esteban de Gormaz is defined by a predominantly continental climate, with long, cold winters and hot, dry summers. However, a touch of Atlantic influence brings slight humidity and moderates the extreme temperatures typical of other areas in Castilla.

Located at an average altitude of 900 meters above sea level, the region experiences significant temperature swings between day and night. These variations promote slow, gradual ripening of the grapes, resulting in a higher concentration of aromas and flavors, while preserving balanced acidity.

Our Vineyard

and the Environment

The vineyards are typically planted in loamy-sandy soils, rich in limestone and with excellent drainage capacity. Combined with the dry climate, these conditions force the vines to develop deep root systems, enhancing the concentration and quality of the grapes.

The natural climate conditions of San Esteban de Gormaz support sustainable viticulture, with minimal need for chemical treatments thanks to the low incidence of vineyard diseases.
